L j In these studies, female goats were divided into two groups: The experimental group consisted of newly delivered mothers, separated from their young immediately after parturition, while the control group of mothers was allowed normal contact with its kids. After one hour, the kids from the experimental group were returned to their mothers. The mother-kid interactions from both groups were observed repeatedly during 15-minute intervals. In the control group of intact mother-kid pairs, the young displayed continuous feeding behavior in all cases.
